Welcome to the Department of Public Health Medicine
The Department of Public Health Medicine is part of the School of Nursing and Public Health, College of Health Sciences, University of KwaZulu Natal. The Department provides undergraduate and postgraduate students a population based perspective on health, healing and society. It draws on policy, management and measurement sciences and is closely linked to health systems and health services.

The Department provides public health education to undergraduate medical students, registrars in Public Health Medicine (MMED) and the Graduate Programme in Public Health (Post Graduate Diploma(PGDip) and Master of Public Health (MPH)), Masters of Medical Science (MMEDSci) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs for all health professionals.
